This case study details the implementation of the Mongoose texting platform by Duke Health to enhance donor engagement and event communication. Prior to adopting Mongoose, Duke Health utilized a keyword-based texting tool that limited two-way communication and proactive outreach, resulting in inefficiencies and lower donor engagement. The transition to Mongoose allowed for real-time interactions, significantly improving donor relationships and fundraising outcomes. Key outcomes included a 47% increase in dollars raised and an 85% growth in the number of donors during the 2024 Giving Tuesday. The use of a local area code increased credibility and trust among donors, leading to higher response rates. The study outlines future plans for expanding Mongoose’s use, including enhancing corporate partnerships and refining audience targeting through segmentation.
