This technical report presents findings from the Unified Risk Management (URM) study initiated by Moody’s, aimed at understanding how global businesses are evolving their approach to risk in an increasingly interconnected landscape. The research is based on 50 qualitative interviews with senior executives across various industries and regions, focusing on perceptions and priorities surrounding risk management. The study outlines the transition from fragmented risk control to a unified insight approach, emphasizing the necessity for organizations to treat risk as a strategic enabler. Contributing factors include economic uncertainty, digital acceleration, and complex interdependencies that are reshaping risk landscapes. The findings indicate that organizations face challenges such as fragmented ownership and tool fatigue while recognizing the potential benefits of a unified approach. The report highlights the urgent need for agility in decision-making and a holistic view of risk to enhance resilience and foster growth within organizations.
