This case study outlines the operational site assessment conducted by MSC’s Business Needs Analysis (BNA) for a manufacturer of thermal management and heat transfer products. The assessment aimed to identify opportunities for enhancing inventory management through an automated and strategic solution. Key goals included improving inventory management consistency, eliminating stockouts, increasing crib productivity, and establishing 5S methodology throughout the plant. The implemented solution involved ControlPoint® Vending and Vendor Managed Inventory systems, along with ControlPoint® Cribware software to provide full inventory visibility. Additionally, a Parker Hydraulics solution was utilized to manage and organize fittings. The results indicated a 20% reduction in inventory consumption and labor savings of 20 hours per week. The study emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement through quarterly Customer Improvement Reviews, where MSC and the customer evaluate progress and identify further improvement initiatives.
