This case study details the cloud migration undertaken by Nestlé, the largest multinational food company, in collaboration with Nakisa. Established in 1867 and based in Switzerland, Nestlé operates with 352,000 employees across 360 companies in 189 countries. The primary objective was to transition 40,000 lease contracts and 70,000 monthly journal entries to the cloud while ensuring business continuity. In 2016, Nestlé partnered with Nakisa to adopt the IFRS 16 accounting standard, aiming for compliance and improved asset management. The migration process utilized Nakisa's lift-and-shift strategy, which was executed in 2020, involving extensive testing and quality assurance. Nestlé emphasized the importance of cybersecurity and compliance, adhering to IT general controls and ensuring data protection through encryption and role-based access. The integration with multiple ERP systems, particularly SAP, was crucial for seamless operations. The collaboration with Nakisa has resulted in a stable and effective cloud solution that meets Nestlé's ongoing needs.
