This report presents preliminary findings from a multi-country study conducted by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) and the National Healthcare Group (NHG) regarding cancer screening behaviors in Asia. The study involved approximately 10,000 participants across ten countries, including Singapore, and aimed to explore health behavioral trends. The findings indicate a notable gap between the intention to undergo cancer screenings and actual participation rates. For instance, while 75% of women aged 40 and above in Singapore expressed willingness to get a mammogram, only 34% followed through in the past two years. Similarly, 70% of participants aged 50 and above intended to undergo colorectal cancer screening, yet only 27% did so. These insights are intended to inform healthcare providers and policymakers in developing effective interventions and strategies to promote cancer screening and improve public health outcomes across the region.
