This research article presents findings from a study conducted by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, regarding the trust and acceptance of artificial intelligence (AI) medical tools among gastroenterologists in the Asia-Pacific region. The study surveyed 165 gastroenterologists and gastrointestinal surgeons, revealing that a significant majority, approximately 80%, accept and trust AI tools for diagnosing and assessing colorectal polyps. Additionally, 70% expressed confidence in using AI to guide decisions on polyp removal during screening colonoscopies. The study also highlights that experience level influences perceptions of AI risk, with less experienced doctors perceiving greater risks compared to their more seasoned counterparts. The article emphasizes the need for further research to understand the factors influencing acceptance of AI in clinical practice. It discusses the implications of these findings for the integration of AI technologies in healthcare and suggests areas for future investigation, including the perspectives of various stakeholders in the medical field.
