This case study details the collaboration between Appify and nClouds to migrate Appify's application stack from Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) to Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (EKS). The primary objective of this migration was to enhance performance efficiency, scalability, and elasticity while optimizing costs. The project involved creating a new Amazon EKS platform and implementing an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to improve security and resource management. Key components of the solution included the use of Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, HashiCorp Terraform for infrastructure as code, and AWS App Mesh for improved communication between microservices. The migration resulted in enhanced scalability and availability, with EKS managing control plane nodes across multiple availability zones. The study outlines the benefits achieved, including faster communication between microservices and reduced operational costs through shared resources. Overall, the project marked a significant milestone for Appify in modernizing its cloud infrastructure.
