Face Recognition Automated Visitor Management System Implementation

This document is a case study detailing the implementation of a Face Recognition Automated Visitor Management System (FRAVMS) at Outram Community Hospital in Singapore. The hospital faced challenges with long queues due to a manual visitor registration process, which required visitors to fill in forms and present identification documents. To address this, NEC Asia Pacific partnered with Synapxe to streamline the visitor experience by allowing pre-registration through smartphones and utilizing face recognition technology for swift entry. Visitors log in via SingHealth’s website and verify their identity using the Singpass Face Verification system. The integration of this technology, which includes cameras at security gantries for face authentication and temperature checks, marks a significant advancement in healthcare visitor management. The implementation is expected to save approximately 10 minutes per visitor and enhance safety through a contactless experience, while also optimizing resource use by reducing paper waste and reallocating staff to areas needing more attention.
