This case study examines the operational improvements at McCollister’s Global Services, Inc., a specialized transportation provider. The company faced significant challenges with labeling errors in their warehouse operations, which were identified during an internal review. These errors led to substantial losses and inefficiencies, prompting the need for a new labeling solution. After consulting with their technology provider, Integrated Productivity Systems (IPSi), McCollister’s implemented Newcastle Systems' mobile power workstations. This solution replaced central fulfillment stations, allowing employees to print labels directly at the point of need, which significantly improved labeling accuracy and productivity. The results demonstrated a nearly doubled productivity rate and a reduction in labeling errors, enhancing overall operational efficiency. Additionally, the new system positively impacted client perceptions of McCollister’s organizational efficiency. The case study concludes with plans for further deployment of the mobile workstations across additional locations, highlighting the ongoing commitment to improving warehouse operations and employee satisfaction.
