This case study outlines the storage challenges faced by Worcestershire Health IT Services (WHITS), which serves the European National Healthcare Service (NHS). With approximately 400TB of storage and a user base of around 14,000, WHITS must manage a growing demand for digital medical imaging data. The transition from analogue to digital storage, particularly for high-resolution medical images, has necessitated a robust storage infrastructure. WHITS utilizes Nexsan storage solutions to meet these demands, aiming for high availability and performance. The case study details the implementation of a storage virtualization strategy that allows for efficient management of storage resources. WHITS has transitioned from server-based local disks to network-based storage, deploying various Nexsan products to enhance performance and reliability. The results indicate that Nexsan's solutions have exceeded expectations, providing dependable storage for both archiving and production data, while also being user-friendly and efficient.
