This case study details the impact of the Beredt-C19 initiative led by the NIPH's Unit for Health Service Research, which was established to provide real-time knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative was operational from April 2020 to December 2023 and played a crucial role in Norway's pandemic response by enabling data-driven decisions through the Preparedness Registry. The study outlines the innovative analytical platform developed to monitor the spread, causation, and hospitalization rates related to COVID-19, as well as vaccine coverage and its effects. It emphasizes the importance of rapid research dissemination to inform policymakers and the public, highlighting the challenges of conducting timely analyses with unstructured data. The case study also discusses the flexible infrastructure that allowed for the inclusion of new data sources as knowledge needs evolved. Overall, Beredt-C19 exemplifies the significance of real-time data in managing health crises and influencing public health interventions.
