This document is a rapid review that evaluates non-pharmaceutical treatments for adults with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It aims to assess the effectiveness of various treatment methods in reducing PTSD symptoms such as anxiety and depression, improving quality of life, and enhancing daily functioning. The review includes systematic evaluations sourced from databases like Epistemonikos, Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, and APA PsycInfo. Two systematic reviews were included, which analyzed the impact of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and group-based TF-CBT on PTSD symptoms compared to standard treatment or waitlist controls. The findings suggest that these therapies likely reduce PTSD symptoms. Additionally, other treatment modalities such as cognitive processing therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing may also be effective. However, the document notes that evidence for some newer treatments is limited, indicating a need for further research in this area. The review does not provide recommendations or economic evaluations.
