This case study details the implementation of NOV Cellar Tech's below grade wellhead containment system by an operator in the Appalachia region. The primary objective was to enhance return-to-pad drilling while avoiding the loss of production from existing wells. Traditional return-to-pad drilling often requires shutting in producing wells, leading to significant production losses and additional costs. However, with the below grade system, the operator was able to maintain production during rig operations, facilitating simultaneous operations (SIMOPs). The results showed that the operator produced an additional 25 billion cubic feet equivalent (BCFE) of natural gas and oil condensate from over 20 well pads equipped with the below grade cellar products. This approach improved well economics, minimized unnecessary operational complexities, and positively impacted corporate financial metrics. The case study emphasizes the benefits of innovative wellhead solutions in optimizing oil and gas production.
