This case study details the implementation and results of the iNOVaTHERM portable treatment system used for drilling waste management offshore Angola. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the iNOVaTHERM system in reducing environmental impact and operational costs compared to traditional waste disposal methods mandated by zero-discharge regulations. The results indicated that the iNOVaTHERM system successfully treated drilling waste to less than 0.3% oil-on-cuttings, which allowed for offshore disposal. This method eliminated the need for approximately 1,500 crane lifts and significantly reduced carbon emissions and operating costs associated with supply boat trips for waste disposal. The findings suggest that the iNOVaTHERM system not only meets regulatory requirements but also offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional waste management practices in the oil and gas industry.
