This case study details the implementation of a mooring system for the Nguya floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel, part of Eni's Congo LNG Project located offshore Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo. The project, which spans from 2023 to 2025, aims to facilitate large-scale LNG exports and improve gas utilization. The selected solution is NOV's Submerged Swivel and Yoke (SSY) mooring system, designed for operational reliability in moderate water depths of approximately 35 meters. The SSY system allows for continuous gas transfer from subsea pipelines to the FLNG and supports efficient ship-to-ship offloading. Its design enables the FLNG to weathervane 360 degrees, enhancing alignment with environmental forces, thereby improving reliability during operations. The compact footprint of the SSY minimizes seabed disturbance, and its modular design simplifies installation. Results indicate improved safety, reduced maintenance, and accelerated project execution, demonstrating NOV's capability in providing effective mooring solutions for LNG production.
