This document is a case study detailing the implementation of a digital velodrome at Newport Live, aimed at enhancing the performance of athletes and supporting the local community's health and wellbeing. The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, one of five indoor velodromes in the UK, serves as a hub for both professional and amateur cycling. The case study outlines the technologies utilized, including an insight analytics platform, IoT sensors, and a Meraki Wi-Fi solution, which collectively provide real-time data on athletes' physiological metrics. The project was initiated to support athletes like James MacDonald in their performance endeavors, particularly during world record attempts. The velodrome's digital infrastructure allows for comprehensive tracking of speed, heart rate, and other metrics, displayed on an interactive dashboard. This innovation not only benefits elite athletes but also empowers local riders to leverage technology for improved training outcomes, thereby fostering a healthier community.
