Cruise Vessel Communication Modernization Case Study

This case study details the modernization of communication systems aboard a cruise vessel operated by a global cruise operator. The organization faced challenges such as limited dock access, delayed purchase approvals, and high costs associated with traditional network upgrades. To address these issues, Litenet deployed NVT Phybridge PoLRE switches, which allowed for the use of existing cabling to facilitate the installation of Mitel IP endpoints. The project was completed on time, resulting in cost savings of approximately £169,000 and reducing deployment timelines by four to six months. The solution not only met performance expectations but also minimized waste and environmental impact by reusing existing infrastructure. The deployment showcased the effectiveness of the PoLRE managed switches, which provided robust power over Ethernet capabilities and simplified network management, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and supporting sustainability objectives within the maritime sector.
