This case study details the migration of Kings Harbor's communication system from an aging Avaya phone system to a modern Cisco Webex IP telephony solution. The healthcare facility, over 25 years old, faced challenges due to its existing legacy copper cabling infrastructure. Continuant recommended the NVT Phybridge PoLRE switches to leverage the current cabling, allowing the migration of approximately 238 business-line phones while minimizing disruption and avoiding extensive wiring and electrical upgrades. The implementation was executed in phases, focusing on backend infrastructure preparation and user training. The project was completed with minimal operational downtime, achieving significant savings in wiring and construction costs while ensuring reliable communication. Additionally, the case study highlights sustainability by reusing existing infrastructure, thereby reducing electronic waste and material consumption. The deployment illustrates how modern LAN design principles can facilitate digital transformation and support sustainability initiatives in healthcare environments.
