This case study details the successful upgrade of a public research university's surveillance system in the western United States. The university aimed to modernize its aging analog CCTV system across more than 30 buildings but faced significant financial and logistical challenges due to the age of the infrastructure. The integrator partner, Pavion, proposed using NVT Phybridge's Power over Ethernet (PoE) innovations to leverage existing coax cabling, thereby avoiding the high costs and disruptions associated with traditional network upgrades. The implementation involved deploying 550 Avigilon IP cameras, which was completed during the summer break to prevent disruption to university operations. The project resulted in a 90% reduction in network readiness costs for older buildings and 25-50% for newer ones, while also aligning with the university's sustainability goals by minimizing electronic waste. The outcome exceeded performance expectations, with the university reporting high satisfaction with the results.
