This case study details the modernization of a Spanish retailer's security system from outdated analog cameras to an IP-based surveillance system. The retailer, one of the largest department store groups in Europe, aimed to enhance physical security across its numerous retail locations. The project was divided into two phases, with the first phase focusing on upgrading existing analog devices to IP cameras, while the second phase would expand the security system further. To facilitate this transition, the retailer sought a solution that would avoid the costly and disruptive traditional method of ripping and replacing existing infrastructure. NVT Phybridge was engaged to provide a solution using their CLEER24 managed switch, which utilizes Ethernet over Coax technology. The successful proof of concept demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach, leading to the deployment of over 6,000 IP cameras while significantly reducing costs and minimizing disruption to business operations.
