This technical report outlines the methodology and findings of a linking study conducted by NWEA to predict student proficiency on the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Assessment (SC READY) based on MAP Growth scores. The study utilizes data from 80,475 students across 23 districts and 253 schools who took both assessments in Spring 2022. It details the statistical analyses performed to establish RIT cut scores that correspond to performance levels on SC READY for mathematics and English language arts (ELA)/reading in grades 3–8. The report confirms the alignment of the MAP Growth and SC READY assessments and presents the equipercentile linking method used to generate the cut scores. Additionally, it provides classification accuracy statistics, indicating a high correlation between MAP Growth scores and SC READY performance, thus validating the predictive capability of MAP Growth assessments for educators. The report serves as a resource for understanding the linking methodology and its application in assessing student proficiency.
