This study is an observational cohort analysis that evaluates the real-world effectiveness of tofacitinib compared to select biologic DMARDs (bDMARDs) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The research utilizes data from the OM1 PremiOM™ RA dataset, which includes linked claims and electronic health record data for RA patients in the United States. The study focuses on patients aged 18 years and older who initiated treatment with tofacitinib or specific bDMARDs between January 1, 2013, and March 13, 2024. Statistical methods employed include stabilized inverse probability treatment weighting to adjust for demographic and clinical differences among treatment cohorts. The results indicate that no significant differences in remission rates were observed between tofacitinib and the overall bDMARD population. However, subgroup analyses suggest potential variability in treatment effects based on certain demographic and clinical characteristics, although these interpretations are limited by low event rates and missing data.
