This study is a retrospective analysis examining the prevalence of suicidal ideation (SI) among patients treated with glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP1) agonists. The research included 2,685 patients who were prescribed GLP1s, with the majority (78.4%) being treated for type II diabetes and 21.6% for weight loss. The study aimed to determine if the prevalence of SI increased after initiating GLP1 therapy and whether it differed based on the indication for treatment. Results indicated that there was no statistically significant change in SI prevalence before and after the initiation of GLP1 medications. Additionally, the prevalence of SI did not differ by GLP1 indication, as the majority of patients who reported SI during follow-up had also affirmed SI during the baseline period. Data were sourced from the OM1 Real-World Data Cloud, which includes electronic health records and claims records. The findings suggest that GLP1 therapy does not appear to be associated with an increased risk of SI.
