This research article presents a detailed comparison between Large Language Models (LLMs) and traditional legal professionals, specifically Junior Lawyers and Legal Process Outsourcers (LPOs), in the context of legal contract review. The study aims to evaluate the performance of LLMs against human practitioners in terms of accuracy, speed, and cost-effectiveness. The empirical analysis benchmarks the capabilities of LLMs against a ground truth established by Senior Lawyers, revealing that LLMs can match or exceed human accuracy in identifying legal issues. Furthermore, the research highlights that LLMs can complete contract reviews in seconds, significantly faster than the hours required by human lawyers. Cost analysis indicates that LLMs provide a staggering reduction in costs, operating at a fraction of the price compared to traditional methods. The findings suggest a potential shift in legal practice, indicating that LLMs may enhance the efficiency and accessibility of legal services, thereby challenging existing workflows in the legal industry.
