This case study outlines the implementation of OnPage by Alberta Health Services (AHS) to standardize the reporting and management of blood body fluid exposures (BBFEs) among its employees. AHS, responsible for health services across Alberta, faced challenges due to inconsistent reporting policies across its five zones, leading to variable response times and unnecessary costs. The adoption of OnPage eliminated the need for call centers and allowed employees to report incidents through a dedicated line, enhancing the efficiency of communication with occupational health nurses. The system provides a voicemail option for employees to detail their issues, enabling nurses to conduct preliminary assessments before returning calls. Additionally, OnPage's reporting functionality allows AHS management to analyze call volumes and adjust staffing accordingly, improving overall service delivery. The implementation has resulted in significant cost savings and improved risk management, ensuring that all employees receive timely and standardized care regardless of their location.
