This case study outlines the collaboration between Optiv and a large U.S.-based financial institution to enhance its cybersecurity framework during a digital transformation initiative. The financial institution faced challenges with an extensive array of existing security tools, which hindered its migration to the cloud. Optiv's engagement focused on three primary objectives: identifying the most effective security tools, reducing the complexity of the technology stack, and understanding stakeholder requirements through collaborative workshops. The process involved mapping the tools against the MITRE ATT&CK framework and Optiv’s security controls map, which revealed potential integrations and areas for improvement. The project resulted in a prioritized security roadmap with both short- and long-term recommendations, allowing the client to complete the analysis in five months rather than the anticipated three years if managed internally. The outcome provided the bank with valuable insights and a clear path towards consolidating its cybersecurity tools.
