This case study documents the Agile transformation journey of Optum Serve, a Federal Health Services entity of Optum and UnitedHealth Group. The organization transitioned from a traditional waterfall model to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to enhance its agility and responsiveness to customer demands. The initial challenges included resistance to change and a lack of familiarity with Agile tools. To facilitate this transition, Optum Serve engaged KnowledgeHut, a Lean-Agile transformation leader. The implementation of SAFe led to significant improvements, including a 55% reduction in bugs and increased team motivation. The case study outlines the importance of leadership commitment, Agile coaching, and creating collaborative workspaces in achieving successful Agile adoption. Key results demonstrate enhanced business agility and a more effective alignment with customer objectives, showcasing how organizations can leverage Agile methodologies for transformative outcomes.
