This white paper evaluates the impact of PreCheck MyScript (PCMS) data on the prescribing process, focusing on how it minimizes the time and costs associated with prior authorizations. The study analyzes 12 months of data, including 28 million unique prescribing events and 30 million prior authorization requests. It compares events where PCMS data was utilized with those where it was not, highlighting the benefits for patients, providers, health plans, and pharmacies. Key findings indicate that PCMS data leads to significant cost savings, improved medication adherence, and reduced administrative burdens. For instance, patients save an average of $119 per prescription when lower-cost alternatives are selected, while providers save approximately 50 minutes per prescription by avoiding prior authorization requirements. The paper also discusses the methodology used in the study and presents top-level results that demonstrate how PCMS data enhances transparency and efficiency in the healthcare ecosystem.
