This case study examines the implementation of an access and care navigation solution from Orbita at a large academic medical center in the Midwest. The objective was to enhance patient engagement and streamline the surgical preparation process for bariatric surgery. The results reported include a 164% increase in patient volume and a 64% completion rate for the program, which significantly improved from previous rates. Key barriers to growth were identified, such as cumbersome outreach and complex paper-based processes that led to high patient abandonment. The study details how the digital solution improved patient access to information and facilitated automated workflows, thereby reducing the administrative burden on staff. The implementation allowed for quicker insurance verification and streamlined preparation steps, resulting in 99% of patients feeling prepared for surgery. The findings indicate that the solution not only enhanced patient satisfaction but also increased operational efficiency, allowing the program to potentially triple its annual surgical cases.
