Northumbrian Water LeakNavigator Trial Results

This technical report details the trial of the LeakNavigator package conducted by Northumbrian Water in partnership with Ovarro. The trial aimed to assess the effectiveness of the LeakNavigator system, which includes Ovarro’s Enigma leak noise loggers and a fully-managed analytics platform. The trial involved the installation of 36 Enigma loggers in the Fish Quay district metered area, which serves nearly 1,400 properties. The report outlines the successful detection of five significant leaks, including a major leak on an 8-inch PVC water main, with a conversion rate of 80%. The findings indicate that the technology improved leak detection, particularly on plastic pipes, and highlighted the operational benefits of enhanced technician training. The report also discusses Northumbrian Water's objectives for leakage reduction, aiming for an 8% decrease in AMP8 and a 55% reduction by 2050, emphasizing the importance of innovative technology in achieving these goals.
