OM Expanded Access Standardization Case Study

This case study outlines the implementation and outcomes of the OM Expanded Access™ Standardization at a prominent West Coast Academic Medical Center. The objective was to streamline supply chain processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs associated with purchasing supplies from multiple manufacturers. By analyzing purchasing data from the previous 3-6 months, Owens & Minor identified over $10 million in products eligible for procurement through their distribution channel. The initiative resulted in $1 million of product being converted to the Owens & Minor channel, achieving a 3% reduction in operational expenses. The standardization process led to fewer SKUs being managed outside of distribution, which simplified logistics and improved delivery efficiency. The case study also highlights the use of customized delivery solutions, such as u-boats and totes, to facilitate product distribution within the health system. Overall, the partnership has allowed the Academic Medical Center to focus more on patient care rather than supply chain management.
