This document is a case study detailing the AWS migration strategy implemented by Koniag Management Services (KMS) for a government agency. The agency faced challenges in modernizing its infrastructure, moving away from traditional hardware deployments and Docker containers. The solution involved a comprehensive approach utilizing various AWS services to meet the agency's needs for scalability, security, and efficiency. Key components of the strategy included the implementation of Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) for production workloads, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) for development workloads, and Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR) for container image management. Additionally, security measures such as AWS Shield Advanced for DDoS protection and the integration of third-party tools were established. The outcomes of the migration included improved scalability, enhanced security posture, optimized content delivery through Amazon CloudFront, and increased operational efficiency. Overall, the migration allowed the agency to modernize its infrastructure and leverage AWS services effectively.
