This technical report examines the impact of the Revel educational platform on student performance in the Fundamentals of Speech Communication course at Miami Dade College's Kendall Campus. The study, conducted by Instructor Aileen Ochoa, aimed to enhance student preparedness and engagement by integrating Revel into the course structure. Key findings indicate that students who scored at or above the median Revel quiz score achieved significantly higher final course scores compared to those who scored below the median. Additionally, students who passed the course skipped an average of 5.2 fewer Revel assignments than those who failed. The report details the implementation process, which included weekly readings and quizzes, and highlights the positive correlation between the use of Revel and improved student outcomes. The survey results from students further support the effectiveness of Revel in enhancing engagement and preparedness, with a majority expressing a preference for it over traditional textbooks.
