This case study evaluates the accuracy of temperature predictions made by CEMPRO+ in comparison to actual temperature data recorded by sensor loggers during cementing operations. The study involved two offshore wells, one located in the Gulf of Mexico and the other west of Shetland. Temperature history data was collected using loggers installed in the weight-set centralizer near the casing shoe during inner-string cementing. The results indicated that CEMPRO+ provided temperature predictions that closely matched the actual measurements, demonstrating superior performance compared to a competitor's simulator. The study highlights the challenges in accurately predicting downhole cement temperatures due to the complexities of heat transfer physics and downhole uncertainties. It emphasizes the necessity of comparing simulation results with logged data to enhance confidence in temperature predictions within the cementing industry. The findings from this study are significant for job planning and operational efficiency in cementing applications.
