Fairness in Process Mining Literature Review

This document is a systematic literature review focused on fairness in process mining. The findings indicate that while fairness is a critical aspect of social sustainability, challenges remain in effectively measuring fairness across various research methodologies. Specifically, only a small percentage of the reviewed papers explicitly report fairness detection methods, and many do not address fairness metrics at all. The paper outlines key research questions related to fairness algorithms in business processes, discusses the limitations and challenges associated with fairness in process mining, and highlights best practices for future research. The document concludes by emphasizing the need for further empirical work and the development of effective fairness metrics to guide practical implementations in process mining systems.
