This document is a systematic literature review (SLR) that investigates the perspectives of novice developers on adopting large language model (LLM)-based tools for software development. The review encompasses 80 primary studies published between April 2022 and June 2025, focusing on computer science and software engineering students as well as early-career developers with limited professional experience. The SLR aims to categorize motivations for using LLMs, identify specific software development tasks where these tools are applied, and outline the advantages and challenges faced by novice developers. Additionally, the document discusses recommendations for educators and researchers to enhance the understanding of LLM adoption in software engineering. The findings highlight the perceptions of novice developers regarding the usefulness and emotional aspects of LLM tools, as well as the implications for their productivity and learning processes. The paper concludes with suggestions for future research directions in this emerging field.
