Voya Financial Services Resiliency Audit Case Study

This case study documents the challenges faced by Voya Financial Services during a Gartner resiliency audit, where the company failed to successfully execute failover for 187 Tier 1 applications. The audit revealed that the recovery process was heavily manual and reliant on a large number of subject-matter experts. In response to the audit findings, Voya implemented the Continuity Patrol™ platform to automate disaster recovery orchestration. This solution replaced manual recovery processes with automated workflows, significantly improving efficiency. Following the deployment, Voya successfully failed over and failed back 250 applications in under four hours, reducing the personnel required for testing from 100 to just one. The implementation also provided a multi-site visibility dashboard, enhancing recovery readiness across all applications. As a result of these improvements, Voya achieved a top-tier score in its subsequent Gartner audit and plans to expand the use of Continuity Patrol™ to cover all 900 of its Tier 1 and Tier 2 applications.
