Consulting Support for Epic Implementation in Healthcare

This document is a case study detailing the consulting support provided for the Epic implementation at a healthcare system in northern California. Over a span of four years, more than 130 consultants were deployed to assist with various aspects of the project, including project and program management, clinical and revenue cycle build, infrastructure deployment, and training. The case study outlines the challenges faced by the healthcare system, particularly after acquiring another health system in 2015, which necessitated additional support due to the absence of the original implementation team. The project involved significant capital investment, with a focus on building a technologically advanced hospital, representing the largest capital project in the organization's history. The document highlights the strategic planning efforts of the leadership team to manage the $2.5 billion facility and emphasizes the critical role of the consulting team in ensuring a successful implementation.
