This technical report presents the findings of a comparative analysis between the Dell PowerEdge R7725 server and the legacy HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server, focusing on their performance in handling Oracle Database workloads. The objective is to demonstrate how consolidating three legacy servers onto a single Dell PowerEdge R7725 can lead to significant cost savings and improved data analysis speeds. The report outlines that the Dell PowerEdge R7725, equipped with 5th Generation AMD EPYC processors, can deliver 23% faster data analysis speeds and support three times the number of virtual machines compared to the older HPE model. Over a five-year period, the estimated total cost of ownership (TCO) for the Dell server is projected to be $1,171,513.83, resulting in savings of approximately $2.1 million, or 64%, when compared to maintaining three legacy servers. The report emphasizes the advantages of server consolidation, including reduced operational costs and enhanced efficiency in data center management.
