Security Features Comparison for Dell, HP, and Lenovo PCs

This technical report presents a research-based comparison of security features in PC systems from Dell, HP, and Lenovo. The investigation was commissioned by Dell and conducted by Principled Technologies between May 28, 2026, and July 14, 2026. The report outlines ten key security features focusing on prevention, detection, and remediation solutions, as well as integrated hardware and software security solutions. It details specific capabilities such as signed manifests for factory configurations, quantum-resistant embedded security controllers, and BIOS verification processes. The report also discusses the methodologies used to assess the presence of these features based on publicly available documentation from the manufacturers. It notes that while all three OEMs offer various security capabilities, there are significant differentiators in how these features are implemented, particularly in relation to supply chain integrity, remote attestation, and monitoring for attack sequences. The findings are based on a review of marketing claims and feature documentation, without hands-on validation of the features.
