This technical report details the upgrade of the wastewater treatment plant in Ontario, Oregon, focusing on the implementation of a new multi-port diffuser system utilizing Proco's ProFlex™ Style 710-E Flanged Duckbill Check Valves. The upgrade was necessitated by increasing population and stricter environmental regulations, requiring improved mixing and dilution of effluent discharged into the Snake River. The project involved collaboration between Proco Products, CONSOR Engineers, and Ballard Marine Construction, with the new system operational since November 1, 2023. The design process included modeling by MixZon, Inc. to optimize the diffuser system for the site's hydrological conditions. The new system features nine diffuser ports designed to enhance mixing while minimizing the footprint. The check valves selected for this project are noted for their low cracking pressure and flexibility, allowing for effective operation across varying flow rates and conditions. The installation was completed without disrupting existing operations, ensuring continued service to the community while protecting the river ecosystem.
