Strategic Cost Optimization Assessments for Cloud Expenses

This case study outlines the collaboration between The Hosteller, a rapidly growing hostel chain in India, and Zarthi, focused on addressing high cloud costs and enhancing infrastructure security. The Hosteller faced significant challenges in managing escalating cloud expenses while ensuring a secure setup. To tackle these issues, they engaged Zarthi for strategic cost optimization assessments. The process began with a one-month Proof of Concept (POC) that allowed Zarthi to analyze the Hosteller's infrastructure and consumption patterns. Recommendations included implementing resource scheduling strategies and transitioning to more efficient processors, resulting in substantial cost savings. The study details how these strategies led to a reduction in monthly cloud costs from $452 to $189.50 and potential annual savings of up to 77%. Additionally, Zarthi facilitated a 7% provider discount with AWS, further optimizing the Hosteller's cloud expenditure while improving operational efficiency.
