This case study details the implementation of electronic permitting at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (CPChem) as part of its digital transformation efforts. Initially identified as a priority in 2015, the electronic permitting initiative faced several challenges, including performance issues and the need for a reliable mobile application. In April 2020, the project gained momentum due to the pandemic, leading to the selection of Prometheus ePAS as the solution. The study outlines the critical needs identified by CPChem, including a working application, reliable network connectivity, and fast devices. Despite initial setbacks during the pilot phase, user adoption increased significantly by late 2022 as operators began to trust the application. The transition to a paperless permitting process resulted in measurable improvements in safety, compliance, and productivity. The case study emphasizes the importance of user training and engagement in achieving successful digital transformation.
