This case study outlines the collaboration between the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) and Public Consulting Group (PCG) to implement the Supports Intensity Scale for Adults (SIS-A) and Children (SIS-C) assessments. The project aimed to enhance the assessment process for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Virginia. The initiative began in October 2024, focusing on recruiting experienced assessors and transitioning to the SIS-A 2nd Edition. Key components of the project included establishing a leadership team, developing an operational staffing plan, and implementing a structured assessment process. PCG facilitated training for assessors and employed an automated scheduling system to improve efficiency. The results demonstrated a streamlined intake process, standardized assessment administration, and comprehensive reporting, ensuring that individuals received timely and accurate evaluations of their support needs. The case study emphasizes the importance of collaboration and structured planning in achieving successful outcomes in behavioral health assessments.
