This case study details the migration of AllSaints, a British fashion retailer, from a hybrid cloud environment to Google Cloud. The objective was to consolidate operations onto a single cloud platform to enhance responsiveness, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. The migration involved refactoring 100 individual services into a microservices architecture, ensuring high availability and performance without downtime. Pythian was engaged to assist with this transition, leveraging technologies such as Google Compute Engine and Google Kubernetes Engine. The implementation of a new CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins and HashiCorp Terraform significantly reduced deployment times. Following the migration, AllSaints experienced a 35 percent improvement in page load speeds and a 20 percent increase in online conversions, while also reducing operating costs by 75 percent. The case study highlights the strategic partnership between AllSaints and Pythian in achieving a seamless transition to the cloud, aimed at enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
