This case study details the implementation of Quanergy's 3D LiDAR sensing and Q-TRACK perception software at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to enhance the passenger journey. The primary objective of this initiative was to improve operational efficiency by accurately monitoring foot traffic during domestic check-in and security screening processes. Legacy counting technologies were unable to provide reliable data, necessitating a solution that respects passenger privacy while delivering operational insights. The Q-TRACK system enables real-time identification, classification, and tracking of individuals and objects without capturing personally identifiable information. By deploying these technologies, YVR aimed to reduce waiting times and improve the overall passenger experience. The results included significant reductions in check-in and security screening times, alongside enhanced customer satisfaction. The case study also emphasizes the importance of using data-driven insights to optimize airport operations while maintaining passenger anonymity. This strategic approach positions YVR at the forefront of modern airport operations.
