QuantHub Upskill ESSA Level III Brief

This technical report presents findings from the QuantHub Upskill initiative, which aimed to enhance data literacy and analytical skills among students through an eight-week internship program in Alabama. The program, partially funded by an Innovate Alabama grant, involved students engaging with the QuantHub Upskill platform, which provided access to various data skills training, including data visualization and machine learning. The report details the implementation of the program, including student participation metrics, such as time spent on the platform and skills mastered. It also outlines the methodology used to assess student outcomes, including a custom survey designed to evaluate changes in students' perceptions regarding college and career plans, engagement with data science, and familiarity with data literacy tools. The findings indicate a positive correlation between the number of skills mastered on the platform and students' reported interest in data analysis and recognition of data literacy's relevance in professional contexts.
