This case study details the implementation of the Qventus Perioperative Solution at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to enhance operational efficiency in their operating rooms (ORs). UAMS faced challenges such as inefficient manual scheduling processes, underutilized OR time, and difficulties in predicting case lengths. To address these issues, UAMS adopted Qventus' AI-powered software, which automates key scheduling processes through its various modules. The Access Module helps predict unused OR blocks, while the Growth Module aligns case scheduling with strategic health system objectives. Following implementation, UAMS reported significant improvements, including a 173% increase in early block hour releases and a 400% increase in utilization of released hours. Additionally, the median turnaround time for OR requests decreased to 36 minutes, and the accuracy of case length estimations improved by 33%. Overall, the Qventus solution has streamlined scheduling, increased case volumes, and improved staff satisfaction, positioning UAMS for ongoing success in perioperative care.
