This technical report outlines the implementation of a cross-region disaster recovery (DR) solution for the Supplier Portal (SP) application hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The SP is classified as a Level 1 business-critical application, necessitating high availability and data integrity. The project aimed to establish a robust DR strategy to minimize downtime and data loss during regional outages. The architecture involved deploying multiple AKS clusters across paired regions, utilizing Azure Traffic Manager for routing, and Azure Key Vault for managing sensitive information. Key components included Azure Chaos Studio for conducting chaos engineering experiments to test resilience, and a failover mechanism to ensure seamless traffic redirection. The report documents the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) achieved through this setup, emphasizing the importance of operational efficiency and data preservation during disruptions. Overall, the solution effectively supports business continuity and operational resilience in the face of potential regional failures.
