This case study details the challenges faced by a large Indian enterprise in managing its identity verification process due to increasing demands on its data centers (DCs). Initially relying on single-phase power distribution units (PDUs), the enterprise encountered issues with power reliability and capacity as KYC requests surged. To address these challenges, the enterprise considered two options: expanding existing facilities or constructing new ones. Ultimately, it opted to switch to three-phase PDUs, which provided higher power capacity without requiring additional floor space. The implementation involved replacing existing PDUs with 55KW models and integrating smart rack controllers for enhanced monitoring capabilities. Over three months, the installation was executed with minimal downtime, resulting in a threefold increase in computing capacity and improved power management. The enterprise also achieved a reduction in overall transaction costs and enhanced energy efficiency, as indicated by a decrease in Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) from 1.8 to 1.4.
